SUNDAY CLASS | Jana’s Perfect Heel - Knitted from the Toe Up
A class designed to help you create socks that fit your feet perfectly.
Instructor: Jana Strahan, Purl Together
Skill Level: Adventurous Beginners to Intermediate Knitters
Craft: Knitting
Prerequisites: Students will bring their completed homework to class and should be familiar with basic decreases, slipping stitches, and rudimentary pattern reading.
In this workshop, you will:
• Learn custom fit techniques: Jana will show you how to adjust your sock heels to match the unique shape of your feet for the best fit and comfort.
• Measure with Precision: We will measure our heels and discuss how to modify your knitting to suit your heel shape.
• Simplify the process: We’ll break down the steps needed to find the perfect measurements and stitch counts for your sock heel.
Materials Provided: None
Homework: Students will need to knit the toe and foot of their sock using fingering or DK weight yarn of their choice. Instructions for homework will be emailed to students beforehand and Jana will be available by email if students have any questions.
Student Supplies: Students should bring their completed homework with the project yarn, preferred needles for working in the round in a small circumference (dpns, magic loop, or 2 circulars) stitch markers, notions, pen and paper, and a fabric tape measure.

Jana lives in rural Wyoming with her husband of 35 years, five cats, the best dog ever, and a few chickens and goats. She hosts the Purl Together YouTube channel with over 60k subscribers. In 2022, her channel received the Knitting Circle's Best Vlog/YouTube Channel Award. Jana loves to teach knitting and is deeply committed to her students' experiences. When she's not knitting, she might be found backpacking deep in the wilderness.
